Kneeling During the National Anthem: An Opinion Piece
Kneeling During the National Anthem: An Opinion Piece A Bad Combination The NFL represents ââ¬Å"The National Football League,â⬠which contains thirty-two professional American teams (ââ¬Å"NFL Football Teams,â⬠para 1). Over the past year to present time, there has been a lot of controversy within the league concerning a major political issue with select NFL players kneeling during the playing of the national anthem before kickoff. Kneeling is executed to represent a form of silent protest. The NFL players who are kneeling believe that there are prevailing issues in the United States that need to be brought to the publicââ¬â¢s attention. According to the philosopher, Boxill, protest is meant to not only stop the injustice from happening, but to also show self-respect (Boxill, para 1). The injustices that the NFL players are silently protesting against during the playing of the national anthem, are police brutality and racial inequalities occurring in the United States. The issues behind the protest should be addressed, but the way the NFL is allowing players to kneel during a time which celebrates patriotism and the symbolic representation of our country, should not be allowed. The protest first began in the NFL when a player from the San Francisco 49ers sat on the benches during the playing of the national anthem at preseason games (Mindock, para 3). Later in the season, he changed to kneeling during the national anthem while his other teammates remained standing (para 4). Ever since the first player, Colin Kaepernick, kneeled during the anthem, it has started a widespread protest encouraging other players in the NFL to join. The reasons behind the protest, such as police brutality and racial inequalities, are extensive issues in the United States. According to the mapping of police violence, police have killed 1,079 people in the United States this year. Of these 1,079 people, 26 percent of those killed were of the African American race, which represents 13 percent of the American population (ââ¬Å"Mapping Police Violenceâ⬠). These statistics are well known and alarming to most. The NFL players felt that something needed to be done in order to bring the injustices to the publicââ¬â¢s attention. As mentioned above, the protest itself is genuine, but the way it is being executed is exceptionally wrong and troubling. My first argument, is that the form of protest the NFL players are using shows disrespect towards the members of the military and the American flag because the national anthem is played during sporting events to display patriotism for the wars that were fought. The national anthem was written by Francis Scott Key during the War of 1812, which was a conflict between Great Britain and the United States, killing roughly 15,000 Americans (ââ¬Å"Star Spangled Banner Lyrics,â⬠para 2). By kneeling, the players are showing a lack of patriotism for our country and this draws attention away from their concept of protesting. Under Title 36 in the United States Code, Section 301 states, ââ¬Å"all other personââ¬â¢s present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heartâ⬠(ââ¬Å"United States Code,â⬠para 2). Although there is no federal punishment for violating the United States code, it shows overall disrespect towards the country. Many soldiers have lost their lives fighting for the freedom of the United States, and to military personnel, it may come off as very discourteous. The first argument not only enrages the majority who serve in the military, but it also upsets the fans. The disrespectfulness fans perceive from the way the protest is performed, can lead to unintended consequences. Protesting in the public eye may lead to boycotts and un-peaceful events. Ever since the protest began, more security has been needed at the games to protect fans from violence that might occur due to the kneeling that takes place (ââ¬Å"Refusing to Stand for the National Anthem,â⬠para 8). Also, fans have been committing arson by burning the jerseys of players who promote the protest to show dislike (para 8). Not only is the kneeling making the audience feel uneasy, but causing them to lash out to also be heard. My second argument, is that not standing up during the national anthem is a very ineffective way to promote a protest of injustice. Kneeling during the national anthem catches the viewersââ¬â¢ attention, but can be a major distraction (para 6). It can be a distraction to their teammates and can also cause internal team controversy for those who donââ¬â¢t agree with the style of protest. Not standing for the national anthem before the game, can get in the way of the main message they are trying to protest, which is police brutality and racial injustices. The national anthem stands for men and women who have fought for our country (para 5). Once people see a player kneel, it is hard for them to get past the perceived disrespect for the military personnel of the United States and listen to the deeper concerns of the protest. Many fans get distracted by the action the players are performing, not even realizing there is a bigger cause behind the action. Not only does it distract the players and the audience, but it takes away from the overall football game starting minutes after the kneeling occurs. In addition, the protest draws attention away from the actual reason people bought tickets, which was to view and enjoy the football game between two opposing teams. There are many objections that you could use to rebuttal against the first argument. I think the best objection is that if one believes the United States is not holding up the foundations the country was established on, not standing during the playing of the national anthem is reasonable. The reason the protest was executed by kneeling, was because Kaepernick felt that his country wasnââ¬â¢t showing justice for all and was oppressing African Americans (para 3). He did not want to show pride in a country and flag that undermined police brutality and racial injustices, acting like these were not issues in the United States. Many other players now kneel during the national anthem for this reason. The players are not purposely trying to offend the military, police, or others who find it disrespectful, they are trying to bring recognition to the issues, so other people can be informed. Raising awareness of social injustice is their main target, not dishonoring those who have risked their lives for America (para 3). Another major objection to the first argument could be that kneeling during the national anthem is protected by the First Amendment. The football players are exercising their constitutional right to peacefully protest, bringing the issues of police brutality and racial injustices to the publicââ¬â¢s attention. Legally, there was nothing wrong with Kaepernickââ¬â¢s form of protest. The players of the NFL have the right to speak out and make a statement about something they believe is unfair. The First Amendment states, ââ¬Å"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievancesâ⬠(Staff, para 1). In addition, it is an individualââ¬â¢s choice whether or not he or she wishes to participate in standing for the national anthem. With the freedom of speech, comes the right to express your opinion peacefully with either direct words or symbolic actions without diminution, and thatââ¬â¢s exactly what the NFL players are doing (ââ¬Å"What Does Free Speech Mean?,â⬠para 1). The second argument emphasized that kneeling during the national anthem is not an effective way to promote and protest the injustice occurring in the United States. A possible response to this argument could be that kneeling is an effective way to promote the issues because it easily grabs peopleââ¬â¢s eyes on a platform that is viewed by millions of Americans. Kneeling is an unexpected action taken by the NFL players and it shocks the audience which makes them pay attention to the issues (para 6). This sparked other players to join Kaepernick in the kneeling because they realized the public would react, good or bad. Also, it created a conversation on social media and in the news. The protest spread like wildfire, and people were widely talking about it. On social media, there were those who took the NFL playersââ¬â¢ side and others who did not agree with the form of protest. By grabbing the fansââ¬â¢ attention, they are able to speak out and voice their opinions on racial issues that needed to be displayed. Now that the public is more aware of the police brutality and racial injustices, actions can be taken to try to prevent those injustices from happening further. The objection to the first argument was that refusing to stand during the anthem was justified if you feel that your country is not holding up the ideals it was founded on. The other objection to the first argument was that the right to peacefully protest is protected by the First Amendment. A response to these two objections could be that yes, NFL players are protected by the First Amendment, but if they are going to protest it should be done respectfully. The national anthem is repeatedly used to honor those who lost their lives or those who were injured while fighting for the United States. It is not something that should be belittled by a protest against totally separate prevailing issues. You gain self-respect from protesting injustices done to you (para 1). Through this form of protest, the NFL players are gaining self-respect, but are alienating others such as select military personnel and viewers who donââ¬â¢t agree with kneeling. The players are utilizing the First Amendment to proceed with their protest, and therefore canââ¬â¢t fully state that the United States is not holding up its ideals which is the reason why they kneel. As for the second argument, the objection was that kneeling is an effective way to protest because it makes others notice and is widely seen by many. A response to this could be that kneeling does grab peopleââ¬â¢s attention, but it takes away from the game NFL players are paid to play. Adding politics to a professional sport, creates even more tension and possibly the loss of fans. There are more effective ways to protest that are more serene and reduce unintended consequences. The players could conduct a protest that can be heard and seen outside of the football game, or even spread the issues another way during the game. Several other ways the NFL players can speak out about the police brutality and racial injustice in the United States could be by wearing a piece of clothing, making a speech, or dedicating a color to the cause. Another alternative could be the NFL players kneeling before the national anthem playing begins and then standing back up, which shows solidarity without being divisive. If they used one of the other ways mentioned, people would not feel disrespected and attention would still be drawn to the present issues. The protest against police brutality and racial injustices began by one NFL player kneeling during the playing of the national anthem. This created tension between fans and the players. Now, there are over 200 players kneeling for these issues and the number of players participating in the protest is growing. There are some who think the kneeling is justified and others who believe it is disrespecting our country and those who fought for the United States. Police brutality and racial injustice are major issues occurring throughout the country, and it is important for others to speak out on the issues they believe are corrupt. Due to the First Amendment, people have the right to freedom of speech with includes peaceful protest, which is what the NFL players are executing. Although protesting by kneeling during the national anthem is viewed by many as disrespectful and can cause viewers to have negative thoughts towards the NFL, players are proceeding with the protest. There is a significant reason behind the cause, but the form of protest could be conducted in a more efficient and less controversial way. The kneeling should not be allowed during the national anthem, so that there is less tension and miscommunication between the public and players. The protest should be executed in a different way in order to only draw full attention to the issues at hand. Statistical Process Control Assigment
Task1: Describe two basic types of inspection used in sampling for process control and explain two processes at your company that could benefits from each type of inspection. In you answer gives the example of variation expected from that process. Answer 1- There are two types of data inspection which are below: 1. Variable or continuous scale 2. Attribute or discrete scale 1. Variable or continuous data inspection: The variable data inspection is the type of inspection which varies time to time and it is the scale of measurement for any process used in different industrial process as well as in our daily life.In variable data inspection there is not breakup between the process. Which means the variable data scale always vary with the time. Examples: Temperature, distance, Analogue signal, Acceleration, Velocity, Weight etc. Explanation: 1- As we know that the analogue signal always varies the values from zero to its maximum values with the different periods of time. Analogue signal start from zero value and its goes to high peak and then after that its values become low which goes to minimum to zero. This example shows that this type of inspection is always continuous with time. But we should be remembering that in variable data inspection the value always was remaining continues. 2- In another example suppose a cooking oil company selling the different type of oil drums into market. Then we differentiate all these drums in local shop by checking their size , weight, volume, shapes, capacity. 2. Attribute data inspection: In is scale of measurement in any process which should not be vary or continue. The attribute data inspection scale is measured by checking their quality. For example pour quality, bad , accept, and good , yes or not.Examples: 1- For example we want to buy a motorbike in showroom. So then we do not need to look its engine power or its speed and other features. Just we will be choosing that looks good for us. But in case of attribute data inspe ction we need to see its all features. For example its model or its engine power capacity which make motorbike different from other models. Also by looking its more characteristics. 2- Suppose a company producing different type of product like a pen etc. Then in attribute data inspection scale we just look and select any of them. But we will consider its quality, and their writing life time. The above both scale of measurement are necessary in industrial but often time we give the priority to variable data scale because it is important that to get more success in our products quality. And checks the product everything by using the attribute data scale. For example today a lots company producing the electronics components which are used in printed circuit board for electronics industry design. But to make safe working operation of any electronics devices we must check the components life time, materials quality, its temperature.Which make the circuit operation more effective and incre ased the circuit finally stability. So thus why by using the attribute data inspection our product will work more efficient. Which also keep the customer happy and satisfy? But we used the other type of inspection at this stage then we have more change that our business or product goes in loss and itââ¬â¢s reduce the customer unhappy and keep down market value over all. Task 2: Describe clearly the significance of natural and assignable causes of variation. Answer: There are two type of variation which is below. ââ¬â Natural or common cause of variation: Explanation: This type of variation is actually happened in system by automatically or naturally. But the effects of this variation in process is low than other variation. All these variation automatically generated and effect the process because nature of system. For example in electronics field we can see that are too many natural variation which normally involves in the system and change the system output overall. The rays of sun, industrial noise etc which often affect the transistors and change its current. All these variation is inheriting the process. But a main thing is how we keep our process our process away from this natural variation. According to my own point of view this is only required to modify the system which can decrease effect of natural variation in process. This can be done when we select a good team and team management skills. 2-Assignable variation or special cause of variation: The special or assignable variation is the type of variation which occurred in process by different method for example the change of the environment, lack of attention of operator or problems in machine. So assignable variation is not generated automatically in process but all these variation cause when you see some problems in machine or the lack of attention of the operator who do not have extra skill to properly handle it or used it. So we need to check the environment as well because the change of envi ronment suddenly can also affect our result. By making some good decision and applying some strategies we can eliminate the assignable variation in process. It is easy to avoid the special cause of variation in system comparatively naturally variation. Task 3:Explain the purpose of modified control limits for variable data inspection: A control limits is very important for any process to run in right direction. By controlling limits narrow our project will be look more effective and perfect. The wider control limit is the signe which show the project is going to be fail. Which means there are lots of variations in project which can effect our product as well. It does not matter that how much project is big or large, but main thing is in project that how we can handle the limits by the using good technical skill or scientific method. So by controlling the limits of variation in our process our project will be run more smooth and can keep satisfy of our customer and increase products q uality through production methodology. Figure -1 Control limit diagram The above figure -1 is basic diagram of a control limit chart of any process. Where we can see tow lines. The upper line is called upper control and lower line is called lower control limit line and between them there is one more line which is called average line or centre line.If for example if we increased the distance of upper and lower control limit lines then its much difficult to us to find the error in our process, because the variation in our process is very high. So we have maximum chance that our project will be damage at any stage. If we see less distance between upper and lower limit lines then we can say our process is under control or project is stable. Which means there is nothing wrong in our system which damages our project to its success? If the data is fall down out size these two control lines then we should be know that some things is wrong in our process which take us to the damage. In the pr ocess is in control and process statistic is normal, 99. 7300% of all the points will fall between the control limits. Any observation outside the limits, or systematic pattern within, suggest the introduction of a new and like unanticipated source of variation, known as special cause variation. Since increased variation means increased the quality costs, a control chart (signalling) the presence of a special ââ¬â cause requires immediate investigation. This makes the control limits very important decision aids. The control limits tell you about process behaviour and have not intrinsic relationship to any specification targets or engineering tolerance. In practice , the process mean (and hence the centre line) may not coincide with the specified value or target of the quality characteristic because the processââ¬â¢ designââ¬â¢ simply cannot deliver the process characteristic at the desired level. The purpose of control charts is to allow simple detection of events that are indicative of the actual process change. This simple decision can be difficult where process characteristic is continuously varying. The control chart provides statistically objective criteria of change when change is detected and considered good it is cause should be identified and possibly become the new way of working, where the change is bad then its cause should be identified and eliminated. Task no 6: p3. 1, p3. 3, 4. 2: According to my experiment in class the data collected by taking the length and diameter measurement. In all of the 25 readings I draw a distribution chart and according to that chart most of the values of length of dowels are in between 29. 81mm to 30. 00mm and then the 2nd most common values are in 30. 1mm to 30. 20mm while the rest of values are in between 29. 00mm to 29. 80mm. As shown in below figure 1. 1 As showing in this SPC chart 1. 1 where the data is moving away from the mean line which mean there is something happening wrong in the process but it is still in control so we need to check it out properly in order to get bet product of dowel from process. SPC chart 1. 1 Similarly I draw some control chart relating to dowels diameter and no of dowels in which I can see that most of the data existing near to the mean value but there is two point which is point A and point B as shown in the SPC 1. where the data is moving away from the mean line which mean there is something happening wrong in the process but it is still in control so we need to check it out. SPC 1. 2 In figure 1. 2 the data shown in the chart tells us that the most of the data is below the mean line but is in control but if the process going in the same direction then after some time we can see that all those points which are near to mean line moving away from it and it cross the lower limits and it become uncontrollable. SPC 1. 3 In figure 1. the chart for the diameter of the dowels shows that the most of the diameter of the dowels are between 7. 81mm to 8. 00mm th en the 2nd most common value of diameter is existing between8. 01mm to 8. 20mm, while the remaining values are in between 8. 21mm to 8. 40mm , 7. 60mm to 7. 80mm and 8. 61mm to 8. 90mm. Task: 7 P2. 5; p3. 3 Recommendations to the manufacturing manger on how to control the dowel production process. This could be in the form of a control program. Answer: The manufacture manger is person who is responsible to control the all kind of variation in dowel production in process system.Because without knowing variation which can effect the dowel performance cannot be improve the process of dowels. First of all the manger should be know that what kind of variations can effect system of dowel during their measurement or during the process of dowels. As i mentioned in beging that there are two kinds of variations which can involved in system and it can damage the system of dowel. These two variation are very common , and production manger need to control them by using some wise step. These two variations are given below. * Common cause of variation Special cause of variation The first kind of variation in dowel production can be effect by the nature of system. Because all these kinds of variation is actually generated automatically. So the manger should be making a list in which he need to write all kinds of common cause variation. Here are some given some example of common cause variation * Inappropriate procedures. * Poor design. * Poor maintenance of machines. * Lack of clearly defined standard operating procedures. * Poor working conditions. e. g. lighting, noise, dirt, temperature, ventilation. * Machines not suited to the job. Substandard raw materials. * Measurement error. If the above variation happens in production of dowel then the manufacturing manger should be control by applying different strategies. For example they need to use some new and good error less equipment which can show proper measurement of dowel. Also he needs to check the raw materials in the p roduction of dowel. Always try to use the good materials and should be provide safe working environment to their employees. According to my own opinion the work environment can play an important role in dowel production plant. If the manger implement some role in plant then they can improve both quality and workers performance in order to get best performance of their production. Because a happy work place or environment is productive office or place weather all employees put their efforts to improving the quality. Often time the engineers / works enhance their ability when their management provide them safe and secure atmosphere. The assignable variation cannot affect the system by automatically but these all variation effect the process of dowel by unusually. Here are some examples of assignable variations * Operator absent. Poor adjustment of equipment. * Operator falls asleep. * Faulty controllers. * Machine malfunction. If all above the variation is control by the manger during the dowel production then they have very less chance to be fail of their product. This process is called the statistical process control, if system is in under control then in SPC chart show the how line is close to mean lines. But any of above variation affects the system and which is not control then the process is called out of control. Which show that there are some problems which may be lack of attention of operator or used by faulty equipments.Always he should be draw some SPC charts in which he can judge all kinds of variations by putting their values as we I given the example in above SPC charts. The production manger needs to use these tools and techniques in order to improve quality of dowels. The tools and techniques most commonly used in process improvement are: â⬠¢ Problem solving methodology, such as DRIVE â⬠¢ Process mapping â⬠¢ Process flowcharting â⬠¢ Force field analysis â⬠¢ Cause & effect diagrams â⬠¢ CEDAC â⬠¢ Brainstorming â⬠¢ Par eto analysis â⬠¢ Statistical process control (SPC) â⬠¢ Control charts â⬠¢ Check sheets â⬠¢ Bar charts â⬠¢ Scatter diagrams Matrix analysis â⬠¢ Dot plot or tally chart â⬠¢ Histograms All above tools and technique help the manger to improve the dowels quality in process system. Below diagram 1. 5 most power full tools or techniques which enable to manger that he needs to look all of them to improve the process. Regulators Error less equipment or Machine Human Skills and experience Knowledge Output Controls Input Process Of dowel Physical Site Mechanical Service Product Internal Data Supplies External Raw materials Capacity Resources Standard References: http://www. businessballs. com/dtiresources/TQM_process_improvement_tools. pdf

Taking a Look at Global Warming - 1562 Words
Is global warming being accelerated as a result of human interaction? This question has been asked over and over again since global warming was first noticed and brought to our attention. Multiple claims have been made that this anomaly is caused by human interference with the planet. There are also those that strongly deny these accusations. To detect the truth, one must explore both sides of the story. Studies have been done by countless experts to support their side of the story; therefore, that is what has to be examined. There are several reasons why people blame humans as the cause of global warming. The primary reason for the pro human causation side is the problem with humans burning fossil fuels. These concerns are justified, considering that there has been a 75% increase in CO2 in the atmosphere. This 75% increase is entirely a result of human actions, such as humans burning fossil fuels. The burning of fossil fuels is the main contributor to global warming; conseq uently, it has caused the earth to heat up by 1.4oF. Although this evidence is strong, it does not run uncontested in the debate about global warming. Global warming is a sizable threat, no doubt, but it is not as scary as people like to think that it is. There is solid evidence that shows that global warming is not new. Mise-en-scene Film and Elements - 1116 Words
MISE-EN-SCENE [DR STRANGELOVE(1963)] Mise-en-scene (pronounced `Meez-ahn-sen ) Mise-en-scene is a concept that was transposed from the theatre, where it meant that the director took into account everything that appeared on the stage; he took into account the effect of everything that appeared in the frame of onstage space. These elements had to further the purpose and function of the play. So too in film. Generally there is nothing in a film frame that is not meant to be there, that is not planned. So elements of the frame have a purpose in the act of constructing the meanings in a film. Mise-en-scene is a huge topic, and this module will not cover it all. I will especially not go into lighting in great detail. Nevertheless, itâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦colour Colour is almost too obvious. In creating realism it is obviously useful. But in creating ambience, as in BIRTH OF A NATION it is obviously useful as well. Here the colour is obtained through using a filter. Actor s expression, position and movement Why do actors stand where they do in a scene? Very often because positions in space relative to other people establish relationships between people. Movement establishes and moves the narrative. From movement, as from all elements of mise-en-scene, our intertextual threads awaken and we use these to make meanings, which change those threads we have in different arrangements to each other. Obviously this is one of the most powerful elements of mise-en-scene. You may like to think about the impact of expression, position and movement by asking questions like `Why is she standing there? `What effect does that have? `Why is he playing the mouth organ? Why is she lying behind the other actor? Screen space This is not location, although it involves the location. As BT say, it involves the organisation of shape, textures, and patterns of light and dark. But more than this, in SF film screen space is often a fundamental element of the narrative. Space is an element that is constructed, that takes on character in film, for example, in BLADE RUNNER. It is the construction of elements within a space, within a frame that is important. Logistics and Operations Product they Produce
Question: Critically evaluate methods of planning and organising efficient operations and networking. Analyse the problems of controlling component activities and of controlling quality. Critically discuss methods of project evaluation and of scheduling resources. Answer: Introduction: Apple is one of the companies which is unique in itself, and it is considered as one of the leading marketers of products through its creativity in design. According to market surveys, it is learnt that Apple products have attracted many customers achieving brand loyalty through its significant brand design challenge. It is discovered on a regular basis that Apple unveils a new innovative products into the market through its strength and competency in comparison to other mobile phone producers in the market. Other mobile producing companies have always wondered regarding the mystery about the design process which highlights the features a particular. However, it is known that creativity is not always an adequate amount to transform a design into a successful product, it is always necessary to successfully implement a plan to achieve goals. One of the essential principles of Apple is that its core focus is on the design of the product. Apple general area of focus is quality because the quality is more important than quantity to make any product successful. Detail of the importance of process design on the product or service: Apples product process has spellbound many over the years as it has defied all the odds while many have long held conventions how it has been so successful for a large company with high market expectations. A detail report is prepared regarding the every aspect of its Iphone5 process and it is worth going through its astonishing process of designing the product (Brown and Wyatt 2015). Generating Ideas: This is the primary step in the process of designing the product. Senior authorities of the companies articulate their interest in creating a new product, and concise information is discussed regarding the product of the product. This stage defines the development process of the new product idea and drawing up the preliminary sketches (Pahl and Beitz 2013). Products start up: Once the designers of the product have defined the design, the company has its internal start-up team that focuses on the development of the new product development process which is distinct from the rest of the team. It is learnt that new-product start-up team is separated from natural office barriers and sometimes receives a part of the company premises to focus entirely on the development of the process design of Iphone5. This course of action frees the new product team from the regulation of the company structure and helps them to focus on the core developmental process (Beatrice 2014). Creating demo: This stage involves creating pixel-perfect demos and this stage marks the beginning of setting up the new product demos. However, this is a time consuming process and involves lot of effort, but it helps in creating a visual for the project. During the initial stages, the design team has absolute liberty to explore its member's creativity by developing ten demos of Iphone5. During the later stages the designers select three of those demos designed as a finalist, and finally, the designers select one product to move forward during this process. Starting production: Once the demo is selected, the company starts the process of production. Apple's new product developmental process is an evident document which gives a detail description of the process and lays down the different stages of production. Apple's new product developmental process is owned by a team of engineering product manager and the global supply manager. The engineering team coordinates the work of engineers, on the other hand, the global supply team emphasises on the production of a product (Cavalieri and Pezzotta 2012). Executive Team Reviews: Apple has its own team of experts who meets the production process team inside the companys production house. The expert team conducts meeting on a regular basis and this enables them to review the small parts of production on a weekly basis, which means the manufacturing team is never more than two weeks away from the executives decision (Parraguez, et al. 2015.). Design review meetings: Before the discussion of an executive in the meetings, a review meeting also takes place between the design team and the engineers who have a core area of focus for improving the design of the product. This session can be in the form of regular production meeting or go crazy about injecting new innovative ideas of creativity. Managing production: The engineering production team and the team of global supply manager toils hard for the manufacture of products and are always in touch with each other to ensure best for the product. Both teams spend most of the time in factories to where production takes place (Watson 2015.). Testing: Once the demo of the product is created, both the Engineering team and Global supply manager takes the product back to Cupertino to gain reviews and feedback from the executives. The product goes back to production house to apply those necessary feedback obtained. This process can be repetitive in nature to achieve high quality standards. Re-testing of Product: It is learnt that once the final product is made it is tested on numerous parameters to ensure that Iphone5 do not suffer from any technical glitches. The engineering team hands the device after examination to Cupertino in hope that the products meet the expectations and demands of the regular customers in the market. Packaging and Branding: Apple has set up a separate premise in the marketing building which dedicated in the packaging and branding of the device. The security in the premises matches only by the department of the buildings who devote their efforts to new products and design. At one point before the launching of Iphone5, there was an employee who used to spend hours every day for months to only open hundreds of boxes of prototypes to experience the feeling of unboxing the product (Klimchuk and Krasovec 2013.). The overall aim and objectives of the product or service using design process: Objectives are principle statements about the route in which the company intends to move forward. When a corporation like an Apple has established its marketing strategies it begins to understand the four P's; Product, Price, Place and Promotion. It should then incorporate the objectives and design process which the company has aimed to achieve through its product. It consists of an action plan in meeting and accomplishing the goals. Product: Apple continuous to produce groundbreaking products and has established its name by setting the trend in the market with every new product it introduces which always has something new and exciting features to offer its customers through its innovative ideas in a design process. Technology is an ever evolving process, and the consumers always buy the next best thing. Though Apple with the help of its team of engineers and designers remains dedicated to improving the design of the existing product through innovative ideas and keeps the customers brand loyalty with its trend setting designs. Price: With apples every premium branded product there will be the existence of premium price. It is always known to the customers that with every superior quality Apple produces it will bring the highest price. Apple's primary objective is to sustain best pricing policy to gain market share and as long as it continues to deliver quality products the consumers hardly have any problem in paying more price. Apple has a great margin of profit, and it continuously makes an effort in reducing the production cost while holding the same retail price in the market. Place: Apple's product is found around every corner of the world, and that was the overall objective of the company in launching its products globally. The apple store is accountable for generating business revenues through selling bulks of products. Over the years Apple plans to expand its retail outlets and expand its business base by making products available online. Apple's objective is to ensure that its products are available to every consumer because of high demands. Promotion: To start with nothing and building something which persuades millions of customers to buy your product is not an overnight miracle. Apple has clearly demonstrated that success cannot be achieved through rigorous marketing and promotional strategies. Every great product next version will certainly attract customers despite the fact that its functions are entirely based on the functions on of previous models. For example, if a consumer likes Iphone5 he or she will certainly like the next version which will have new features and designs. This enables the customers to create demand for the product before it hits the shelf of stores. Stages of product to illustrate the design process: In every business developing a new product and bringing the product into the market is considered as a complete process. It is often described as the transformation of prevailing market opportunity by making the product available for sale. For a firm like an apple a good understanding of customers needs and wants along with keeping in mind the competition from other companies and the nature of market demonstrate those required factors for the success of a new product. Elements such as cost, time and quality are the main factors influencing the customers' demands. The eight stages of product development are listed below (Stark 2015): Generation of an idea: Ideas for developing a new product can be generated by using basic research methodology. Several elements such as markets and consumers trends along with research and development teams display an enthusiastic effort to generate an insight idea of new products lines and product features. A firm like an apple is capable of brainstorming a new product through idea generation which can begin through opportunity analysis (Romiszowski 2016). Screening of idea: Under this step the objective is to eradicate illogical concepts before devoting the resources to production. Several aspects are taken into account such as what could be the size and forecast of the market or whether the consumers will benefit from the product. It also takes into account the current expectations of the product and whether the technology will be technically feasible enough to manufacture the product? Testing of an idea: This step involves the product concept and the product image which will be presumed by the potential customers. It inspects the elements of who the company is going to target in the market and what features the product is going to offer and how the consumers are going to react. Business expectations: Under this stage Apple considers the expected selling price of the product while keeping in mind the competition and customers feedback as well. It also takes into account estimated sales volume and the profitable scenario which the firm will make this product (Laguna and Marklund 2013). Market testing: Producing a physical demo and testing the product in live usage situations gives a proper feedback about the viability of the product. Any necessary arrangements can be made by producing a preliminary running of the product and selling it in the test market to determine the necessary customers reception. Technical implementations: Initializing new programme through finalizing the quality of management system and resource implementation with estimated resources gives a complete review of the program. Planning engineering operations and logistics are an important contingent of technical implementations. Commercialising the product: Under this stage launching the product along with proper advertising and promotions holds key for the success of Apples like a firm. Filing the distribution channel with products and critically analyzing the path is important at this stage. Pricing of the product: Pricing of a new product creates an impact on the product portfolio as there are other firms competing with alternate competitive products of similar features with slight difference in price. The firm has to keep in my mind about the sales forecast unit and volume of sales revenue and profit. A firm like an apple sees a new product development as an active process where resources are distributed to identify market changes capture the opportunity before the competitors introduce a new product. Analysis of the impact of performance objectives on the design: The first parameters made under this section are impacted performance on the designs of the Apple products. Apple treats its designers with special royalty which forms the basic core of the success of a particular product. Operations management also has a role to play board of directors and stakeholders of the firm who have a general interest and is effected by the operations. A detail report is worth analysing the impact of performance objective of designs (De Cesare et al. 2015): Quality- Quality is rated first in apples list of performance objectives since many top authorities have a belief that it is an important constraint on the success of its product. Apple external factors drive the company to produce quality products for customers through its operations who will have less opportunity to complain. However, the quality which Apple produces obtains customers satisfaction and hence they are more likely to buy the product again (Lewis 2015). Speed- Speed is considered as a shorthand way of responding. It is regarded as the it takes to process the customer's request. There are two key aspects where Apple reduces the cost namely the cost of inventories and reducing the risk. For example processing products quickly through its retail outlets can reduce the cost of inventories. Dependability- Dependability refers to the reliability the products offers to its customers. In reality, though the definition sounds simple it is also not easy to measure. Dependability is often perceived by the customers as a good thing. Regarding dependability customers brand loyalty is critical for Apple because it increases the chance of clients returning to more business. Flexibility- It is one of the most critical objectives because one has to remember that flexibility offers a change in operations of products and services. Flexibility in operations allows Apple to develop new products and services through injecting new ideas which buyers often find attractive to buy. When a product like Iphone5 offers flexibility in operation, the customers want to buy more of the same product since the internal designs are directly associated with the performance objectives (Krajewski et al.). Cost- There are two important elements are discussed under cost. The first being cost structure which can vary from other competing firms and the second being the other four attributes which contribute to reducing the cost of a product. For Apple cost has been one of the important factors contributing its elements of operations over the years. The company manages properly those attributes such as quality, high speed and dependability which not only benefits the organisation internally but also it save their cost of operations. Conclusion: Apple is always committed to ensuring that it attains the highest standard of social responsibility in any product they produce. It is focussed on creating a high quality, cost efficient and easy to handle products by providing products of highest technology and design. Apple designs its products which meet the needs of customers. Its engineering team is entirely focussed on measuring the performance while keeping mind the criteria of designs. With the ever changing technology, Apple has evolved itself in keeping and maintaining the brand loyalty among its customers as it always manages to land path-breaking products.
